Vikings likely to hang onto Griffen

DE Everson Griffen was arrested twice recently, and though he will avoid felony charges, the Vikings clearly were not happy with his involvement with the law. The team currently is investigating the matter, but the way we hear it, unless any new information comes out about Griffen's actions, the team is likely to keep him on the roster and not release him. Griffen is coming off a rookie season in which he only started to see the field by midseason, and it was only in a reserve role. His best work was on special teams, but clearly Griffen has a long way to go. That said, he has a chance to vie for a starting or rotational role at right end with Ray Edwards likely to test the free-agent market and Brian Robison also due to become a free agent. The Vikings were embarrassed by the situation but probably want to give Griffen another chance.
