OLB Kamerion Wimbley had one of the better seasons of his five-year career after being traded from the Browns to the Raiders for a third-round pick last offseason. Wimbley was highly productive, leading the team in sacks with nine, which is the most he's had in a season since he was a rookie first-round pick in 2006.
Wimbley is due to become a free agent this offseason and he has the versatility and experience to play in a 4-3 or a 3-4 base defense. He played in Oakland's 4-3 last season, but Wimbley lined up at outside 'backer in a 3-4 during his time in Cleveland.
We hear his 2010 performance caught the attention of some personnel evaluators looking to bolster their pass rush from the OLB position in free agency. The Raiders want to keep him, however. It's believed that Wimbley is one of several priority free agents whom managing general partner Al Davis is hoping to re-sign.
