The Colts have hired David Walker to be the team's new running backs coach, University of Maryland head coach Randy Edsall told the Indianapolis Star.

Walker was a part of Edsall's new staff at Maryland, coming there after six seasons at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to that, Walker coached the position at Syracuse for 10 seasons. He was a star running back with the Orange.

The Colts fired veteran coach Gene Huey, who spent 19 seasons coaching the Colts' backs, following the 2010 season.

Last season, the Colts' running backs group battled through injuries and finished 29th in the league in rushing yards per game.
