Each day we'll post the prediction of a PFW editor for Super Bowl XLV. PFW editor-in-chief Keith Schleiden's prediction is the ninth of 10.
Steelers 34, Packers 27
When you think of the Steelers, you think defense. Historically, that's the case. And in recent years, it has held true, as this club finished 2010 ranked first in scoring defense and second in yards allowed. Since Dom Capers arrived in Green Bay two seasons ago, the Packers have tightened up defensively, finishing '10 ranked second in points allowed and second overall in '09. So, naturally, I'm predicting a Super shootout. I do this because I recall the last time these clubs met, in December of '09, the Steelers and Packers combined for one of the season's more entertaining games, with the Steelers edging the Pack 37-36. In recent years, points usually have gone up easily in the NFL title game, with six of the last eight reaching a total of at least 45. Pittsburgh adds to its historic run in another high-scoring affair.
