The Panthers hired Eric Washington on Monday to be the team's new defensive line coach. Washington coached the Bears' defensive line in 2010, a unit that helped the team rank second in rushing defense.

"Eric brings youth and experience to our staff and is a good fit to work with our young defensive line," Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said. "He has coached on all levels of football and we are pleased to have him on our staff."

Washington coached Northwestern University's defensive line from 2004-07 before joining the Bears' staff.
