Saints secondary coach Dennis Allen will interview for the Eagles' vacant defensive coordinator position on Sunday, according to multiple reports. Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported earlier in the week that the Eagles received permission to interview Allen.

Allen has been with the Saints since 2006, beginning as the assistant defensive line coach before being named the team's secondary coach in 2008.

The Eagles fired long-time assistant Sean McDermott, who had been their defensive coordinator the past two seasons. McDermott is now a member of the Panthers' new coaching staff under Ron Rivera.

The way we see it

The Eagles lost their secondary coach, Dick Jauron, to the Browns last Friday. Jauron was possibly a candidate for the position. Whoever gets hired will have some young talent with rookies Brandon Graham and Nate Allen on defense. The Eagles struggled mightily this season in red-zone "D."
