Following are some whispers we've been hearing from around the NFC East:

• There's a theory floating around Dallas that the Cowboys allowed the false rumor of WR Dez Bryant possibly being on the trade market to be floated out there as yet another subtle reminder to Bryant that he's not untouchable. Certainly the Cowboys were blown away by Bryant's skill, but there's little question they were less than enamored with his off-field work ethic and playbook absorption. Bryant could be special, but he still has some maturing to do.

• The Redskins have felt a little internal pressure, having watched Mark Sanchez and Jay Cutler, two quarterbacks they chased prior to the 2009 season, make it to the NFL's final four this year. Their need for a franchise QB has been well documented, and team sources have expressed their hope that the right guy will be available this offseason to fill that need.

• The Eagles have to make a decision on S Quintin Mikell, who is a free agent. He had a solid season but is not a premier playmaker and is 30 years old.

• Look for the Giants to focus on adding special-teams players this offseason but to otherwise have a quiet few months in terms of adding personnel. They want to improve their coverage and return units and feel that they are close to having a complete roster with a few additions.
