The Panthers continued to fill their staff on Friday, making a crucial hire by naming Mike Shula their quarterbacks coach.

Shula has spent the past four seasons with the Jaguars in the same position. He was also the head coach at the University of Alabama from 2003-06.

Shula joins Ron Rivera's new staff and offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski.

The way we see it

Shula will have the important job of helping figure out the quarterback position for the future for the Panthers. They have Jimmy Clausen, their second-round pick from last year's draft, but he did not impress in his rookie season. With the No. 1 overall pick this year, it's not expected that they will draft a QB, but expect them to get one at some point this offseason for Shula to work with and to compete with Clausen.
