The Browns are expected to hire Dick Jauron as their defensive coordinator, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
The former Bears and Bills head coach served as the Eagles secondary coach last season, helping lead Philadelphia to the No. 14 pass defense in the league.
Dave Wannstedt, who recently agreed to an assistant-coaching position with the Bills, also interviewed for the position.
Jauron, 60, made his coaching debut as a defensive backs coach with the Bills in 1985 and held the same position with the Packers from 1986-94. He served as the Jaguars defensive coordinator from 1995-98 before landing his first head-coaching job with the Bears.
He went on to serve as the Lions defensive coordinator/interim head coach from 2004-05 before landing his second head-coaching stint with the Bills, where he remained until '09.
The way we see it
Jauron becomes the first hire made by new head coach Pat Shurmur. Jauron made his name coaching defensive backs and could help the development of young Browns defensive backs CB Joe Haden and SS T.J. Ward. Jauron is also reunited with Cleveland team president Mike Holmgren, whom he coached with during his days in Green Bay.
