Jim Harbaugh is close to filling in his entire staff with the 49ers, as the team hired John Morton Thursday as its wide receivers coach.

Morton spent the past four seasons in the same position at USC. Before that he was the passing game coordinator for the Saints.

The receivers coach has worked with Harbaugh previously, when they both were on the staff at the University of San Diego (Harbaugh was head coach, Morton was WRs coach). That year, Toreros QB Josh Johnson set school records in completions (260), completion percentage (70.1) and passing yards (3,256).

The way we see it

Morton has some talented players to work with in San Francisco, including former first-round pick Michael Crabtree. What he and Harbaugh don't have is a proven quarterback, which will make developing the receivers a difficult task.
