One man gathers what another man spills, and the Jaguars were happy to pick up WR Jason Hill off of the 49ers' scrap heap in Week 11. A third-round selection in 2007 by the Niners, Hill was oft-injured and underutilized during his three-plus seasons in Frisco. But the 6-0, 202-pound Washington State product was a pleasant surprise during his short stint in Jacksonville. He reeled in a modest 11 receptions in six games, but provided a much-needed deep threat for QB David Garrard, gaining 22.5 yards per reception A solid route runner who possesses reliable hands, Hill is scheduled to become a free agent in March — assuming, of course, that there is free agency — and we hear that he likely will be offered a contract to remain in Jacksonville. With Mike Sims-Walker, who is also a scheduled free agent, not expected to return, Hill could have a great opportunity to carve out a significant role among the Jaguars' young and unproven receiving corps.
