Former 49ers head coach Mike Singletary will join Leslie Frazier's staff in Minnesota as the Vikings' linebackers coach/assistant head coach. Singletary told Chicago's ESPN 1000 on Tuesday that he will head to Minnesota.

Singletary and Frazier were teammates on the Bears' 1985 Super Bowl team. Another one of his teammates, new Panthers head coach Ron Rivera, had also reportedly talked to Singletary about coming to Carolina.

Singletary was fired in his second season in San Francisco after losing to the Rams in Week 16.

The way we see it

This is no surprise, and Singletary brings some good experience to Frazier's new staff. Singletary didn't have much success and ran into some issues with players as a head coach, so dropping back to the assistant ranks may be a nice change for him.
