On the same day they fired offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates, the Seahawks have announced some more changes to their coaching staff.
Tom Cable, who was fired as the Raiders head coach last week, will be Pete Carroll's assistant head coach as well as offensive line coach. Former Buccaneers defensive line coach Todd Wash was hired for the same job in Seattle. Kris Richard and Rocky Seto have been named secondary coaches.
The way we see it
Even after making it to the divisional round of the playoffs, it appears the Seahawks were not happy with a 7-9 regular season in Carroll's first year at the helm. Cable should provide some stability for the staff, which was left in a bind when Alex Gibbs surprisingly retired as O-line coach in early September. With a talented OLT in Russell Okung, Cable will be expected to solidify a line that was partially responsible for the league's 31st-ranked rushing attack in 2010.
