The Rams' talks with Josh McDaniels, thought to be one of the hottest available assistant coaches, reportedly hit a snag while negotiating for their offensive coordinator position.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported the Rams have now requested interviews with Falcons assistant head coach/quarterbacks Bill Musgrave and Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. They were denied permission to speak with Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter.

McDaniels, who was fired as the Broncos head coach this season, was the leading candidate for the position. The Rams are looking to replace Pat Shurmur, who is the Browns' new head coach.

The way we see it

McDaniels seemed like a good fit in St. Louis with Offensive Rookie of the Year QB Sam Bradford. Now it appears to be back to the drawing board. Bevell's position has been in limbo under new head coach Leslie Frazier. Whoever gets the Rams job will get to work with Bradford and RB Steven Jackson but will need to go find some talent at wide receiver.
