Saints OLT Jermon Bushrod's performance is often overshadowed by the Pro Bowl guards — Jahri Evans and Carl Nicks — on New Orleans' offensive line, but he's become a reliable member of the group since an injury to Jammal Brown gave him an opportunity to start early in the 2009 season. The fourth-year veteran could become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason and we hear the Saints are not eager to get rid of him. He will be an attractive commodity to some teams if he hits the open market and could draw a substantial long-term offer from a club desperate for help at left tackle. The Saints are not in a hurry to promote OT Charles Brown, a second-round draft pick last year, into a starting spot and another player that could fill in for Bushrod in a pinch, backup Zach Strief, is due to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason as well. The Saints may be looking for a one-year stopgap at the position if Bushrod departs.
