Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan met with Cowboys officials Friday, and reports indicate that Ryan could soon be directing the Dallas defense under new head coach Jason Garrett.

Ryan, the brother of Jets head coach Rex Ryan, isn't expected to be retained by new Browns head coach Pat Shurmur, who reportedly is close to naming former Bills and Bears head coach Dick Jauron to Cleveland's D-coordinator post. Ryan spent the past two seasons running the Browns' defense under Eric Mangini, who was fired at the end of the season.

The Browns ranked 22nd in the league this season in yards given up per game and 13th in points allowed. That was a big improvement from 2009, when an impotent offense contributed to Cleveland's 31st ranking in yards allowed per game and tie for 21st in points allowed, in Ryan's first year with the Browns.
