QB Peyton Manning set career-highs in pass attempts (679), completions (450) and yards (4,700) en route to a record-tying ninth consecutive postseason berth by the Colts in 2010. But following the wild-card round loss to the Jets, the discussion was mostly about Manning's record in big games — Manning has a 9-10 record in the postseason with seven one-and-dones — and his reluctance to take chances following the worst three-game slump of his career earlier in the season. In the 17-16 loss to the Jets, Manning targeted WR Reggie Wayne only once, and he elected to run on third down more than usual, including on 3rd-and-7 at the Jets' 15-yard-line with his team trailing by four late in the fourth quarter. We're told these are just two recent examples of how Manning was more conservative after throwing 11 interceptions between Weeks 11-13. Wayne was blanketed by All-Pro CB Darrelle Revis, and the Jets were daring the Colts to run, but Manning's unwillingness to throw into tight windows was out of character, the way we hear it.
