Georgia Tech S Jerrard Tarrant will enter the NFL draft, forgoing his final year of eligibility. Tarrant is the second Georgia Tech player to declare in as many days, after OLT Nick Claytor declared for the draft Thursday.

Tarrant got off to a rocky start at Georgia Tech, redshirting in 2007 before being suspended in ’08 after being charged with rape. The charges were eventually dropped and Tarrant was reinstated for the ’09 season.

The 6-1, 205-pound junior recorded 113 tackles in 26 career games. Tarrant intercepted five passes, and also returned two punts for a touchdown.

The way we see it

Tarrant lacks range at the safety position and did not make plays. PFW draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki projects Tarrant as a late-round pick who would have been wise to go back to school.
