Jets ORT Damien Woody was placed on injured reserve with an Achilles injury in his left leg, which will require surgery. WR Patrick Turner was elevated from the practice squad to the 53-man roster to replace Woody.

Woody suffered the injury late in New York's 17-16 win over the Colts. He will have the surgery Wednesday afternoon.

A 12-year veteran, Woody started the in the Jets' first 13 games before suffering a knee injury that kept him out of the final three contests. He returned to start in the AFC wild-card playoff game at Indianapolis.

Woody had played the first five seasons of his career with the Patriots before moving to the Lions via free agency in 2004. He signed with the Jets via free agency in ’08. Woody has played in 173 career games, with 166 starts.

Turner, in his second NFL season, has bounced back and forth from the practice squad to the active squad, seeing time in five games with the Jets in ’10. He has two catches for 26 yards.

The way we see it

The Jets were unable to score on the ground in their first two contests against the Pats and likely won't find it any easier without Woody, who gave up four sacks this season, in the lineup. OT Wayne Hunter, who started the final three games of the regular season and also gave up four sacks in ’10, will probably get the call in his place.
