Jets WR Braylon Edwards will have a lot to focus on this week with his team playing the Patriots on Sunday in the AFC divisional playoffs. Figuring out a Bill Belichick defense takes hours of studying and preparation.

Thankfully, his arrest back in September for DWI won't be a distraction. Edwards was scheduled to be in court on Tuesday for a meeting with the judge on the incident, but it was adjourned until March 7. The receiver's lawyers requested the adjournment, which was granted by judge; ESPNNewYork.com first reported the news.

Edwards was arrested and charged on Sept. 21 with two misdemeanor counts of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and one of operating a motor vehicle while impaired. His blood-alcohol content was .16, twice the legal limit, on the morning of the arrest, according the criminal complaint.

The way we see it

Edwards still might face punishment from the league depending on how this case turns out (he was suspended by the Jets for one quarter in the game following the arrest). It is to his and the Jets' advantage, however, that this hearing was delayed until after the football season, so that the receiver — who had a huge grab in New York's wild-card round win over the Colts — can focus on the Patriots game.
