We've been hearing the following whispers emanating from the NFC West:

• With Tim Tebow's prospects looking better in Denver, could Kyle Orton be a quarterback the Cardinals might consider if he was available? "You never know," said one team insider. "He kinds of fills the bill and could be a good bridge for a younger QB. (Ravens backup QB Marc) Bulger is the name still getting the biggest buzz, though." The insider added that he thought the Eagles would demand too high a price for QB Kevin Kolb.

• As it now stands, FS O.J. Atogwe is due an $8 million roster bonus in March that the Rams will have to think long and hard about paying. But Atogwe has made it clear that he would prefer to stay in St. Louis. "I want to be back," Atogwe said. "However we can make it work, we'll talk about it. Going forward, it's just whatever God has for the organization. He's going to let His will be done, and I'm cool with that."

• Even before Jim Tomsula did a terrific job in his one-game stint as interim head coach of the Niners, we hear he had been virtually guaranteed a job with the Niners for a long time to come. "At the very least, he'll remain the D-line coach — but maybe more," said one Niners source. "He will always be close to Jed (Niners owner Jed York). He's fun! You need a guy like that."

• Our Seahawks sources tell us the team is going to sorely miss defensive line coach Dan Quinn, who is leaving to become the defensive coordinator at Florida. "Everybody from Pete Carroll on down has given him major props for the job he did with such a banged-up line," said one team insider.
