John Fox is interviewing for the Broncos' head-coaching job this week, joining Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell and Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams as candidates for the position, along with Eric Studesville, their current interim head coach.
The Denver Post reports that the team likes Fox, the former head coach of the Panthers, for his defensive background. Both Fewell and Williams are defensive coaches, as well.
"We're definitely entertaining getting that defensive side fixed," Broncos' VP of football operations John Elway told the paper.
The team also is set to interview offensive coordinators Rick Dennison of the Texans and Dirk Koetter of the Jaguars.
The way we see it
Denver would be wise to go after a defensive coach. After years of offensive-based Mike Shanahan and Josh McDaniels, the team could use a leader who is focused on stopping the opposition. The Broncos had the 32nd-ranked defense in 2010.
