During their bye week, the Patriots made transactions at two positions that have seen many faces this season. They re-signed Marques Murrell, making him the fourth outside 'backer the Pats have signed since they cut Murrell on Sept. 13. Shawn Crable spent almost two months on the active roster, only to be replaced by Pierre Woods, who was then replaced by Eric Moore. Crable, Woods and Moore entered games as sub rushers off the edge, and they combined for 3½ sacks. Murrell's sack in the first preseason game against the Saints made people think he could challenge in the open competition at OLB, but he was cut after recording one tackle in the season opener. The Patriots then had to deal with a very thin D-line after placing Ron Brace and Mike Wright on injured reserve. They signed and then released Atiyyah Ellison as they activated rookie DE Brandon Deaderick from a team-imposed suspension. We hear Deaderick was suspended for being late to meetings. He has two sacks this season.
