Bears MLB Brian Urlacher has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for December/January.

It's the first time Urlacher, an 11th-year veteran, has received the honor. He led the NFC with 49 tackles during the month and made 1½ sacks, forced a fumble and broke up three passes.

Urlacher, who was selected to his seventh Pro Bowl this season, made a season-high 17 tackles in Week 13 against the Lions and he recorded 11 tackles the next week against the Patriots.

Urlacher's teammate, DE Julius Peppers, was named NFC Defensive Player of the Month in November.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for December/January and Falcons WR-RS Eric Weems was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month.
