While offensive coordinator Charlie Weis and head coach Todd Haley weren't at each other's throats in Kansas City, we hear that their relationship did have something to do with Weis deciding to leave for the University of Florida. The two butted heads during this past season, as the offensive-minded coaches each wanted to have a hand in the direction of the unit. We're told that by the end of the year, Haley was actually calling about 15 plays per game, which didn't sit well with Weis. Although Weis did help the offense take a big step forward in 2010, he is not viewed as irreplaceable, we hear. The Chiefs even have a couple of candidates on staff in assistant head coach Maurice Carthon and offensive quality-control coach Nick Sirianni, who has worked closely with QB Matt Cassel. If Haley promotes either of them, however, it could be a sign that he does not want to concede too much power this time around.
