After being sidelined for the final 10 games of the 2009 season and the playoffs with a knee injury, 38-year-old PK Adam Vinatieri was determined this season to prove that neither age nor injury would prevent him from still being effective. He did just that, converting 92.9 percent (26-of-28) of his field-goal attempts in ’10 — the second-highest percentage of his 15-year career. Vinatieri, an unrestricted free agent after the season who has expressed a desire to finish his career with the Colts, has impressed team observers not just with his accuracy, but also the distance that he is converting from. He made 9-of-10 FG attempts from 40-49 yards this season, with a long of 48 yards. While he does not possess the range he once did and no longer kicks off, deferring to P Pat McAfee for that role, the time off last season appears to have refreshed Vinatieri, and we're told the Colts will make every effort to bring him back next season.
