Dolphins assistant head coach Todd Bowles reportedly interviewed for the Cowboys' head-coaching job on Wednesday. It's the second time he has interviewed for the job with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, as he had interviewed with Jones to be Bill Parcells' replacement four years ago.

Bowles is the third known candidate to interview for the Cowboys' head-coaching job, joining interim coach Jason Garrett and Cowboys receivers coach Ray Sherman.

The Cowboys announced Thursday morning that Jones will be holding a press conference at 1:30 p.m. CT on Thursday.

The way we see it

Garrett remains the front-runner for the head-coaching job, and it's expected that Jones will name him as the head man on Thursday afternoon.

However, Bowles obviously is someone with whom Jones is impressed. Even if Garrett is named as head coach, Bowles could have a role with Dallas as the team's defensive coordinator, a key position considering that Garrett is an offensive coach and the deposed Wade Phillips had handled defensive play-calling duties before being fired last season.
