Here's our weekly look at the contributions made by Browns rookies this season:
CB Joe Haden (first round): By season's end, it was clear Haden was one of the Browns' better players. Haden, who didn't enter the starting lineup until in the second half of the season, led the Browns in interceptions (six) and passes defensed (24). The 5-11, 193-pound Haden has Pro Bowl talent.
S T.J. Ward (second round): The 5-10, 211-pound Ward started all 16 games and led the Browns with 123 tackles, per NFL.com. Ward also recorded a team-best 18 special-teams stops. He has a bright future as one of the cornerstones of the secondary.
QB Colt McCoy (third round): McCoy started eight games, completing 135-of-222 passes for 1,576 yards with six TDs and nine interceptions. He seems likely to enter next season as the starter and will be at the helm of a revamped offense. He did not finish well, throwing three picks in each of his last two starts, but showed promise.
OG Shawn Lauvao (third round): Lauvao (6-2, 315) appeared in 10 games with one start at right guard. He could compete for a starting job next season.
WR Carlton Mitchell (sixth round): The 6-2, 215-pound Mitchell played in five games this season, rushing once for nine yards. He'll contend for a bigger role next season in the new offense.
DL Travis Ivey (undrafted free agent): The 6-4, 325-pound Ivey started one game at defensive end. He's most likely to compete for a reserve role in 2011.
DL Ko Quaye (undrafted free agent): Quaye (6-1, 307) did not appear in a game after being promoted from the practice squad in December.
DL Brian Sanford (undrafted free agent): Sanford (6-2, 280) was inactive for all eight games in which he was on the roster.
RB Quinn Porter (undrafted free agent): The Browns signed him to the practice squad on Nov. 23. The Stillman (Ala.) College product had a stint on the Redskins' practice squad in November and was originally signed by Green Bay.
RB Montario Hardesty (second round, No. 59) spent the season on injured reserve after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in the Browns' final preseason game. ... SS Larry Asante (fifth round) was waived on Sept. 4 and signed to the Browns' practice squad the next day. The Buccaneers signed him to their 53-man roster on Nov. 30. ... DE Clifton Geathers (sixth round, No. 186) was waived by the Browns on Sept. 4. ... WR Johnathan Haggerty (undrafted free agent) was waived/injured on Aug. 16 with a foot injury and was placed on Cleveland's injured-reserve list.
