Days before they begin their playoff run against the Seahawks, the Saints placed RB Chris Ivory on injured reserve and signed RB DeShawn Wynn.
Ivory, an undrafted rookie, had been a revelation for New Orleans this season when Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush were out with injuries. He rushed for 716 yards and five touchdowns this season and had two 100-yard rushing games. He suffered a foot injury in the season finale against the Bucs.
Wynn was on the Saints' roster for four games this season but did not record a carry. He rushed for 203 yards and four TDs in four starts with the Packers in 2007.
The way we see it
Ivory brought a much-needed spark to the run game when Thomas and Bush were on the sideline. But with the two starters healthy, this isn't a huge loss. Wynn will be an insurance policy in the backfield.
