You can add Tom Cable's name to the group of coaches who may not be returning for 2011. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday that Cable is unlikely to return to the Raiders next season.
In his second full season, Cable had the Raiders in the hunt for the AFC West title until late in the season. A win over the Chiefs in Week 17 and the Raiders would finish at 8-8.
Regardless of their Sunday result, this year's Raiders team had the most wins since the 2002 team that won the AFC Championship.
The way we see it
Of all the coaches on the hot seat, Cable is a bit of a surprise considering the Raiders' improvement this season. They also had a solid rookie class and one of the league's best rushing attacks. Nothing is expected right away, and Cable's contract states that the Raiders have to let him know by Jan. 18 if he will return. Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson would be a candidate to take over if Cable is done in Oakland.
