A very strange brew is being concocted at Lambeau Field, with both the Bears and Packers taking turns shooting themselves in the foot in a 3-3 defensive slugfest through three quarters.
It appeared things might have finally started going Green Bay’s way after a long punt return by Tramon Williams followed shortly by Aaron Rodgers hitting WR Greg Jennings in stride on a crossing pattern down to the one-yard line. But due to a combination of great defense by the Bears, particularly DT Tommie Harris, and strange play-calling by the Packers, the Bears kept the Packers out of the endzone, as Green Bay had to settle for a 23-yard field goal by Mason Crosby to tie the game.
Then it was the Bears’ turn to screw up, when a timeout call negated a first down to Chester Taylor on a 3rd-and-15.
After looking tremendous against the Giants, Green Bay’s offense has really struggled, displaying no rhythm in great part due to a tough Bears defense that had allowed only play greater than 12 yards halfway through the third quarter.
One more reflection: Packers scrub Erik Walden is playing the game of his life!!!!
