Bears-Packers first-quarter reflections

Defense was the story pure and simple in a scoreless first quarter at frigid Lambeau Field. The Packers displayed more overall pop, with QB Aaron Rodgers effectively distributing the ball all over the field. But one possession was halted when veteran WR Donald Driver fumbled the ball away. Interestingly, rookie RB James Starks was an early factor, looking good on a reception after selling a play-action fake.

Aside from two nice 20-yard plus misdirection runs from Bears RB Matt Forte, the Packers’ defense stopped the Bears cold with the Lambeau crowd roaring its approval. P Tim Masthay effectively steered his punts clear of the dynamic Devin Hester.
