The Patriots will place DE Ron Brace on injured reserve Monday, according to PFW correspondent and Boston Herald reporter Ian Rapoport.

Brace suffered an elbow injury in the Week 16 win over the Bills. By making the move Monday, they will have a spot to bring ILB Brandon Spikes back to the roster. Sunday's season finale against the Dolphins will be the fourth of Spikes' four-game suspension.

Brace made 23 tackles this season, including three for loss.

The way we see it

This could be a big blow for the Patriots' D-line for the playoffs if Mike Wright (concussion) and Myron Pryor (back) cannot return. Brace is a good run-stopper and has had a solid second season. There is a major lack of depth on the defensive line with Wright and Pryor out. Eric Moore and Landon Cohen have stepped in as reserves, as well as rookies Brandon Deaderick and Kyle Love.
