An eighth straight year without a playoff berth will bring the Raiders' best season since 2002 to a disappointing conclusion for the franchise and its fans. Despite the improvement Oakland showed in 2010, there is still uncertainty in terms of head coach Tom Cable's status for next season. The Raiders hold an option on Cable's contract for 2011, and managing general partner Al Davis reportedly is contractually obligated to inform Cable before Jan. 18 as to whether he will be back. Davis has not given any indication of which way he is leaning. Players have made it known that they are in favor of having Cable stay on as their head coach, but we're told those opinions will not have much of an impact on Davis' decision. Cable and Davis are expected to meet soon after the season is over, and there may be several meetings between the two before Davis makes up his mind.
