Steelers' Woodley in midst of strong all-around season

With no shortage of AFC outside linebackers having banner seasons, perhaps Steelers LOLB LaMarr Woodley has been lost in the shuffle. Woodley's teammate, James Harrison, is having an exceptional all-around season and was named a Pro Bowl starter for a fourth consecutive season, but Woodley's production shouldn't be overlooked. Woodley is an outstanding pass rusher in his own right, notching nine sacks. He has made major strides in coverage, too, intercepting a pair of passes. And Woodley's run defense continues to be a strong suit. Opponents have had little success running to their right — and even with rugged DLE Aaron Smith out of the lineup for most of the season, as a source close to the team noted. That is a credit to Smith's replacement, Ziggy Hood, and it's also a signal of how stout the 6-foot-2, 265-pound Woodley is against the run.
