Banged up in the secondary, the playoff-bound Jets have signed DB Isaiah Trufant to their 53-man roster.
Trufant has been on the team's practice squad since Dec. 8 after he was named the UFL Defensive Player of the Year with the Las Vegas Locomotives. He also spent time in the arena league and is the brother of Seahawks CB Marcus Trufant.
Replacing Trufant on the Jets' practice squad is DL Matt Kroul, who was released by the team earlier this week. He played in six games with the Jets this season, recording two tackles.
The way we see it
Since Jim Leonhard went down with an injury in early December, the Jets have struggled to defend the pass. Trufant, who has played both corner and safety, should add some depth and versatility to the unit.
