The Buccaneers have placed rookie WR Arrelious Benn on injured reserve with a torn ACL and promoted rookie DT Doug Worthington to take his spot on the active roster.
Benn suffered the injury on a 16-yard catch in the second quarter of Tampa Bay's 38-15 win over the Seahawks. He ranked third on the team in receiving yards (395) and fourth in catches (25).
Worthington was drafted by the Steelers in the seventh round of the NFL draft and played with Pittsburgh in the preseason before being released. He was signed to the Bucs' practice squad on Nov. 3.
The way we see it
After seeing limited action early in the season, Benn was beginning to see more looks and had three or more catches in three of his last five games. He becomes the 10th member of the Bucs to be placed on I.R this season, including eight starters and four members of the 2010 draft class. Worthington will provide depth on the defensive line.
Fellow rookie WR Mike Williams has been hot lately and will likely see increased looks with Benn out.
