The 49ers interviewed Tony Softli on Tuesday for the team's general manager position, according to multiple reports.

Softli was a personnel executive with the Panthers and Rams. Niners team president Jed York said he will hire a GM and have that person choose the next head coach. The 49ers fired Mike Singletary on Sunday night following a loss to the Rams.

Defensive line coach Jim Tomsula is the interim head coach. Comcast SportsNet's Matt Maiocco was the first to report the interview.
