Giants-Packers prediction

With apologies to the Falcons and Saints, who have a huge matchup on tap on Monday night, the game of the week will be taking place at Lambeau Field Sunday with the Packers' playoff hopes on the line. The early line had them favored by three points over the Giants — a number, I suspect, mostly predicated on the home-field advantage the gents in Vegas believe they will enjoy late Sunday afternoon in a game between two pretty evenly matched teams that both definitely deserve to make the playoffs. I'm picking the Packers, but this is a game I would avoid like the plague for betting purposes. I think Aaron Rodgers is poised for a strong effort after being out last week, and I look for him and Greg Jennings to connect on at least one possibly difference-making score.

I also look for the Packers' defense to definitely come up with a couple of big turnovers. My foggy crystal ball shows both Charles Woodson and Clay Matthews, who has been practicing this week more than he has in a long time, having big games. And I see John Kuhn also being an unsung hero, picking up where he left off in key short-yardage situations.

Prediction: Packers 24, Giants 20
