Just as it took QB Jay Cutler some time to get a firm grasp of Mike Martz's offense, the same is true for RB Matt Forté. Now that he feels comfortable, he is finishing 2010 in a blaze of glory.
Against a top-notch Jets run defense, Forté ran with authority on Sunday, churning out 113 yards and a TD on 19 carries. He also made his presence felt in the passing game, catching four balls for 56 yards. Throw that in with the 92 yards he had on the ground last week at Minnesota, and the third-year back is putting together a stellar fantasy playoff run.
But Forté's impressive play goes back even further than that. He has found paydirt in three of his past six games, and he has four outings of 90-plus rushing yards in that span as well. Considering how slowly he began the campaign on the ground, it's fairly amazing how much he has turned things around in the season's final month.
Also contributing nicely as a pass catcher, Forté should be in store for solid finish to the regular season next week at Green Bay. And after being passed over often in fantasy drafts this season, he also should see his stock rise sizably entering 2011.
