Barring a setback, Mark Sanchez will start at quarterback for the Jets on Sunday, Rex Ryan said Friday. Sanchez reportedly has cartilage damage in his right (throwing) shoulder.
On Thursday, Ryan said there was a possibility Sanchez would be unable to play in Sunday's crucial game against the Bears. But he practiced Friday, throwing well in the session open to the media.
He will be listed as probable on the injury report.
The way we see it
At 10-4, the Jets can clinch a playoff spot with a win Sunday in Chicago. Inconsistent at times this season, Sanchez still gives the Jets their best chance to win. Veteran backup Mark Brunell would have started if Sanchez couldn't go. Keep an eye on his shoulder, though, against an attacking Bears defense.
