Saints SS Roman Harper wasn't thrilled that he lost a chance to become an unrestricted free agent last offseason because of the rules of the uncapped year, but, as one source pointed out this week, he could more than make up for whatever he missed out on once he hits free agency again in 2011. A longtime team observer said Harper, who is playing on a one-year, $2.521 million tender, is going to hit the open market with a strong hand to play. If his five accrued seasons are enough to allow him to become an unrestricted free agent per the guidelines of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement, and it's likely that they will, Harper should be one of the best safeties available. He had one of his worst performances of the season against Baltimore in Week 15, but he's second on the team in tackles (88), has three sacks, one interception and has forced six fumbles, which is tied for second in the league, and is well on his way to a career year.
