Injured Broncos OLB Elvis Dumervil is facing disturbing the peace and assault charges, according to the Denver Post and KDVR-Channel 31 in Denver.

Dumervil was cited for an incident on Oct. 24, before the team's game vs. the Raiders. The newspaper reports that a Denver police spokesman said there was a minor problem involving Dumervil at one of the parking lot gates because the player did not have proper ID, but said no charges were filed at the time.

Dumervil's lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, told the Post on Wednesday that his client forgot to bring his credentials to the stadium and a security guard refused to let him in at the Invesco Field players' entrance.

Words were exchanged, but the matter was settled when another Broncos official vouched for Dumervil and he was allowed into the stadium, Steinberg said.

"It's truly unbelievable based on these circumstances that anyone would have to go to court," he said. "All he was trying to do was go to work."

The Pro Bowl linebacker has been out all season after suffering a torn pectoral muscle in training camp.
