Here's another key matchup to consider as the Vikings get ready to head to Philadelphia to face the Eagles in Week 16:
Eagles RB LeSean McCoy vs. Vikings linebackers
Much like with our Tuesday matchup, with the Vikings having to try to shut down Michael Vick, defending McCoy can prove almost as difficult. He's as big a threat on draws, delays and counters as he is on screen passes and even WR-type routes. He's targeted often in the passing game and can make at least one would-be tackler miss. McCoy also impressed with his yards after contact and underrated toughness considering his age and build.
The Vikings did not do a great job Monday with tackling securely, as Matt Forté was able to slip through a couple of attempts and fight through some more. But MLB E.J. Henderson had a strong game (after a poor one against the Giants) and was a part of a pressure package, along with SLB Chad Greenway, that was a little more prevalent in this game than in others. Blitzing Vick has become routine now, but with McCoy's receiving skills the Vikings must be ready for the screen pass.
The goal is to take away the run game in the first quarter, if the Vikings can. Otherwise, Vick can get rolling with play-action and absolutely kill the Vikings' secondary with the deep pass. Easier said than done, slowing down the Eagles' offense.
