Colts WR Austin Collie was placed on injured reserve last week after suffering his second concussion of the season in Week 15. Collie, who had missed the previous three games while recovering from the first concussion he sustained at Philadelphia in Week Nine, had caught eight passes for 87 yards and a pair of TDs in the first half before an elbow from Jaguars LB Daryl Smith on the same seam route that injured him against the Eagles ended his season. The way we hear it, barring a doctor instructing Collie that he should quit playing football, he is expected to return next season. That said, the Colts will be extremely careful in ensuring that the second-year receiver, who was poised for a monster season before his injury woes began, is healthy and ready to go. We're told that Collie could try wearing a different helmet next season like Dallas Clark wears after Clark sustained several concussions earlier in his career.
