The Cowboys had hoped that QB Tony Romo would be able to return from a shoulder injury for the final two games of the season, but the latest reports say that's unlikely. One guy who won't mind that is TE Jason Witten.
With Jon Kitna under center, Witten is putting up some of the best numbers of his career. Following a huge 10-140-1 effort in Sunday's win over the Redskins, the tight end now has made 32 catches for 350 yards and four TDs over his last four outings. That's an average of eight receptions, 88 yards and one TD over that span.
Witten has become a magnet for the ball during the season's final month, and that should only become more evident with rookie WR Dez Bryant, another favorite target of Kitna, now out for the season. Witten should go crazy in a Christmas night matchup with the Cardinals' leaky defense.
After a somewhat "down" 2009 season in which he had just two TD grabs, Witten has bounced back strong with seven scores, and he should surpass 1,000 yards for the third time in four seasons. Only Antonio Gates is likely to be ranked higher among tight ends for the '11 fantasy campaign.
