Eagles rookie FS Nate Allen will have season-ending surgery on a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee.

Allen, September's Rookie of the Month, finished the season with three interceptions and two sacks. The second-rounder joins first-round pick DE Brandon Graham, FS Marlin Jackson and CB Ellis Hobbs on injured reserve.

Another rookie, Kurt Coleman, will take Allen's spot.

The way we see it

Allen's play had dropped a bit since his sensational first month (he hasn't had a pick since Week Four). The Eagles have played without him before when he missed Week 10 with an injury, but it is a loss in a secondary that's not 100 percent. Coleman has 15 tackles and an interception this season.
