Colts WR Austin Collie suffered his third serious head injury of the season in the first half of Indianapolis' game today vs. the Jaguars.

Collie was hit in the head by the forearm of Jacksonville LB Daryl Smith on a slant pass mid-way through the second quarter. The receiver, who already had 8-87-2 on the afternoon, lay motionless on the field for a few minutes before being helped off.

It is Collie's third concussion of the year and likely to be a season-ending injury, as the league has asked teams to take extra precaution with players who have sustained serious hits to their head.

The way we see it

Injuries are part of the game, but it is sad to see the toll they are having on players like Collie. He has been in the wrong place at the wrong time on multiple occasions this year and has paid the price for it. Hopefully he can have a full recovery in the offseason as the NFL continues to look to improve player safety on the field.
