As far as qualified backup quarterbacks go, team sources tell us the Packers have felt for a while now that Matt Flynn more than fills the bill. The consensus seems to be that Flynn, who saw his first sustained action at the pro level in place of the injured Aaron Rodgers in the Week 14 loss at Detroit, has showed steady improvement in every aspect of his game the past three seasons. The Texas native's gritty toughness and strong field presence is one quality that has never been questioned, and daily eyewitnesses tell us his arm strength has markedly improved every year to the point that he can now capably make all the throws at the pro level. We're also told that, as effective a runner as Rodgers has proven to be, Flynn is an even better natural runner, with a great ability to make something out of nothing. Flynn is also considered very smart, although not nearly on the same level as Rodgers.
