Needing a win to keep pace with the Chiefs in the AFC West, the Chargers will be without star TE Antonio Gates and WR Malcom Floyd tonight vs. the 49ers, according to NFL Network reporter Kara Henderson.
Gates has been bothered by a foot injury which caused him to miss last week's victory over Kansas City. Floyd has been dealing with an injured hamstring for some time, and Henderson reported that the Chargers could not get him ready to play on the short week.
San Diego is already without WR Patrick Crayton due to a wrist injury.
The way we see it
Gates and Floyd are two of the team's top targets, so without them in the lineup, the Chargers will have to turn to Vincent Jackson and Seyi Ajirotutu to make plays down the field.
Fantasy Spin
QB Philip Rivers is a must-start no matter who is in the lineup, though his job does become tougher this evening without Gates and Floyd. He's put up outstanding numbers all season long, however, no matter who has been at receiver. Jackson also becomes an intriguing option as Rivers' top target.
